Practicum in Informatics 1-3 Credits

This practicum is a laboratory conducted in conjunction with the National Information Assurance Training and Education Center (NIATEC)

Students will participate in development of Information Assurance materials consistent with their program of study.

  • Build secure systems
  • Develop policy statements
  • Implement awareness, training and education materials
  • Evaluate systems
  • Develop Simulations
  • Practice Sound Forensics Skills
  • Consult with Industry and Government
  • Modern Communications Systems
  • Experiment with Vehicles of Transmission
  • Explore Cryptanalytic methods
  • Assured Coding
  • Information Operations

A requirement of the Practicum is that the student publish the semester results in an academic outlet or on the NIATEC website.

Students in the Scholarship for Service program are expected to participate in Practicum as part of their scholarship requirements.

OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this course is to provide an opportunity for students to develop additional professional skills in a laboratory environment.

The practicum is used by Scholarship for Service students to develop their skills in FISMA, Forensics, Certification and Countermeasures.
