Criteria for Selection

Undergraduate Students

  • United States citizen -- Not a dual national
  • Advanced sophomore standing with the ability to graduate within two years
  • Qualified for Junior Rising in College of Business or approval
  • Official acceptance into the undergraduate ISU program
  • Member of Infragard (https://www.infragard.org/) Idaho Chapter
  • Declared major in informatics
  • A 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale will be given preference
  • Evaluation of the candidate's statement of purpose and description of goals in Information Assurance
  • Candidates will be asked to participate in an interview
  • Recommendation letters from at least two faculty members

Graduate Students

  • United States citizen -- Not a dual national
  • Official acceptance by the ISU graduate school
  • Member of Infragard (https://www.infragard.org/) Idaho Chapter
  • Expected graduation with MBA degree with emphasis in Information Assurance within two years
  • At least a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Recommendation letters from at least two faculty members
  • Candidates for a graduate degree must write a statement of purpose about their goals in Information Assurance and graduate school
  • Candidates will be asked to participate in an interview

We consider the following criteria for both undergraduate and graduate candidates:

  • Commitment to excel in and contribute to in research associated with the National Information Assurance Training and Education Center (NIATEC).
  • Commitment to excel in and contribute to Information Assurance internal internships.
  • Commitment to participate in a paid summer internship and service following degree completion according to the guidelines of the SFS program.
  • Commitment to participate in assessment activities after their scholarship and required federal service has ended.
  • Demonstrated leadership, participation in team activities, prior social service, and/or evidence of creative and independent thinking and/or acting.
  • Students must be able to meet all requirements for federal employment in appropriate agencies including background check for security clearance.

All students will be expected to maintain at least a 3.5 average in all classes in Information Assurance.

The InfraGard program provides a vehicle for seamless public-private collaboration with government that expedites the timely exchange of information and promotes mutual learning opportunities relevant to the protection of Critical Infrastructure. With thousands of vetted members nationally, InfraGard's membership includes business executives, entrepreneurs, military and government officials, computer professionals, academia and state and local law enforcement; each dedicated to contributing industry specific insight and advancing national security.

There does not appear to be a fee for becoming a member of Infragard, just filling out the online application.
