Smart Grid

This program provides students with the knowledge and tools to work in industrial and utility settings. An AAS degree in an ESTEC program is a prerequisite for entry into Smart Grid.  Smart Grid generally refers to a class of technology used to bring utility electricity delivery systems into the 21st century, using computer-based remote control and automation. These systems are made possible by two-way communication technology and computer processing that has been used for decades in other industries. They are beginning to be used on electricity networks, from the power plants and wind farms as well as offer improved efficiency and reliability to consumers of electricity in homes and businesses. Smart Grid is a developing technology that presently has many developing standard and practices.
